Commission Terms

Project price and payment terms            
 

Once I receive your message through my website I will get in touch to arrange a no-obligation free call to chat about design, space, colour, time scale and medium.

You can also arrange a studio visit.

After our call, I will provide you with a draft design based on our conversation and a price.  The price is based on my normal prices + 10% . If you are happy with that I will send you an invoice for a 50% deposit. After receiving the payment the work will begin.

Throughout the project, I photograph the progress of the painting and let you know how it's going. If requested, I’m happy to video some part of the process and share it with you.

After the painting is finished I will send you an invoice within three (3) days of project completion and before the final work is provided. Final payment is required when the work is complete and before delivery.  I accept credit cards, visa cards, paypal, cheques or bank transfer.

All paints are hand made and all gold used is genuine gold leaf of different carats. Paintings are made on birch plywood that is gessoed by true gesso made in my studio. I only use the highest quality materials including earth pigments and mineral pigments. See my unique ‘Selah’ Process

Revisions

There are no revisions on the design once the project starts. The nature of my gold work and egg tempera doesn’t allow for lots of changes.

Minimum changes in the gold colour might be allowed depending on the project. However, it’s better to discuss the colour and design of the painting before starting the project.

This way of doing business works to your advantage as well as mine in that your project is finished in a timely manner and within your budget.

Ownership of artwork/files

Upon full payment, the client shall obtain ownership of the final artwork for personal enjoyment with a Certificate of Authenticity. The purchased piece of art, as is all art by Merna Liddawi, is legally protected by British and International copyright laws and may NOT be copied and used for reproduction in ANY manner without the explicit written authorization of Merna Liddawi. The artist retains the full copyright of all commissioned work and may reproduce the image for other purposes.

Cancellation

If during the process of painting, the buyer doesn't want the painting anymore, the artist keeps the painting and the 50% non-refundable deposit paid. If the buyer doesn’t want the painting once it’s delivered, the buyer has 7 days to return the painting and pay for shipping and packaging. Once the painting is received, the buyer may redeem the money paid towards other available works but not a commission. In the event of cancellation of the project before any work being started I will return the deposit to the client less 10%.

Delivery

Delivery of the painting is at additional cost depending on size and weight. You are welcome to come and pick it up from Merna’s Studio at Worthing, West Sussex at no cost. We also deliver paintings at no cost within 35 miles radius from Worthing.

Confidentiality

All correspondence and documents provided will be treated as confidential between the client Merna Liddawi, unless consent has been granted by both parties involved.

You will get a contract to sign including price, and time of delivery.
